How to write your own Social Media Manager resume?

1. Show a piece of your work

What’s even better than to talk about your past experience? To show it! As a social media manager, you should show that you've already managed profiles of specific brands. The best approach is to provide their names (if your NDA allows it), so your future employer can see your work. The more known the brand, the better. The resume above does just that:

Social Media Manager Experience Example

  • Responsible for: Kinder Chocolate, Akmerkez, Dağ Mühendislik, Little Big.

  • Presenting creative work to clients for approval or modification.

  • Creating social media calendar, social media reports per month/week.

  • Managing social media campaign that meets the client’s brief and budget.

  • Monitoring the effectiveness of campaigns, managing relevant social media accounts and the target audience.

2. Add relevant skills and certifications

Hiring managers don’t want to see generalities like “hard-working” or “flexible” on your resume. Instead, you should show them some specific skills that you can also use in your next job. Including technical skills like Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator can enhance your resume. It’s a plus if a social media manager knows how to create and design own images.

Even better if you have a certificate for skills needed for the job. Include the certification name, authority, and date of certification. You can also add the location in case your certificate is state specific.

Social Media Manager Certifications Example

  • Graphic Design - Adobe Photoshop CS6 - Adobe Illustrator

           5/2014 Bemar Kariyer Okullaru

  • Sales and Marketing Techniques

           3/2013 Educa Eğitim Danışmanlığı

3. Keep it short

Your resume isn’t supposed to have more than one page. Even when applying for a managerial position, you should keep it as short as possible. How to achieve that? Get inspired by the resume sample above. As you can see, it uses a two-column layout. This allows you to fit more content on one page. It also uses small font and minimal line height. This way, you’ll get some space while still keeping a good readability of your resume.

Most importantly, only include relevant information. The point is to make your resume about meeting the needs of the target job description. Notice how the resume above only mentions work experience related to social media and communication. Also, it only briefly mentions education and rather focuses on skills and certifications.
