As a Reading Specialist with 5 years of experience in adult education and 6 years of experience in elementary and middle school settings, I apply with enthusiasm for this opportunity.

I currently hold two part-time positions, that of Reading Specialist at the Institute for Adult Education and Reading Specialist at Sunnybank Junior School.

At the Institute, I provide instructional assistance to adult-age students to increase their basic English reading, writing, and literacy skills. This includes assessing their needs, providing instructional assistance and classroom management, and referring students to intensive group or individual tutoring assistance as required. 

At Sunnybank Junior School, I run reading support programs for native and non-native English speakers. I provide targeted group and individual instruction to support students struggling with learning grade-level content because of gaps in reading comprehension, fluency, and decoding. Interventions are continually monitored using supporting evidence from pre- and post-assessments to determine progress. I work closely with teachers to establish adaptations and accommodations for students across all grades and subject levels through individualized planning. I also provide ongoing feedback to support teachers in ensuring student success.

In addition to my professional experience, I hold a Master of Education (Elementary), a Bachelor of Education (Middle School), and a Reading Specialist (Adult Literacy) certification.

I have enjoyed my time immensely at Sunnybank and the Institute. I am now seeking a full-time opportunity where I can provide reading enrichment and supply instructional practices and materials which have been shown to be valid, reliable, and research-based.
