As a Literacy Consultant with 5 years of experience in adult education and 6 years of experience in elementary and middle school settings, I apply with enthusiasm for this opportunity.

I currently hold two part-time positions, that of Literacy Specialist at the Institute for Adult Education and Literacy Consultant at Sunnybank Junior School.

At the Institute, I provide leadership and direction to specialists delivering instructional assistance to adult-age students to increase their basic English literacy skills. This includes training specialists on effectively assessing literacy needs, offering instructional assistance and classroom management guidance, and providing intensive group or individual tutoring assistance as required. 

At Sunnybank Junior School, I run literacy support programs for native and non-native English speakers. I provide targeted group and individual instruction to support students struggling with learning grade level content because of gaps in language comprehension, fluency, and decoding. Interventions are continually monitored using supporting evidence from pre- and post-assessments to determine progress. I work closely with teachers to establish adaptations and accommodations for students across all grades and subject levels through individualized planning. I also provide ongoing feedback to support teachers in ensuring student success.

In addition to my professional experience, I hold a Master of Education (Elementary), a Bachelor of Education (Middle School), and a Literacy Specialist (Adult Education) certification.

I am now seeking a full-time opportunity to guide the delivery of literacy enrichment, drawing upon research-based instructional practices and materials which have been shown to be valid and reliable. After researching your organization in detail, I believe that we would be a great mutual fit.
