As a Child Life Specialist with 6 years of experience working in NICUs, I apply with great enthusiasm for this opportunity.

I am currently attached to the Sunnybank Hospital, where I support the developmental needs of hospitalized children. My work focuses on decreasing anxiety and trauma associated with illness and hospitalization for patients aged 0-21 through interventions focused on play, learning, mastery, self-expression, and peer interaction. 

Another vital aspect of my work is educating staff and the community regarding the developmental needs of hospitalized children, reactions of children to hospitalization and illness, and family-centered care. I passionately advocate for individual psychosocial, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs in collaboration with families, caregivers, other departments, and community resources.

For me, being a Child Life Specialist is not a job – it’s a calling. I believe that by applying my knowledge and skills, I am meaningfully promoting healing, preventing significant developmental disruption, and reducing overall psychological stress.

In addition to my professional experience, I hold a Bachelor of Child Development and am a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) through The Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP).

I have loved my time at Sunnybank. My decision to leave is solely based on my family’s decision to relocate. I am now seeking a stimulating opportunity with a hospital such as yours that genuinely values patients over profit. I would love to be a part of your team!
