As an Activity Assistant with 2 years of experience working with senior citizens, I apply with enthusiasm for this opportunity.

In my most recent position as Recreation Assistant at Sunnybank Seniors Centre, I created and implemented individual and group programs for 70 members, drawing upon my extensive knowledge of social work and creative arts therapy. Activities were designed to engage clients, stimulate cognitive and physical ability, and encourage social interaction. Learning goals were mapped out in individual care plans, and classes were based around these.

My approach to activity development is drawn from learner-centred pedagogy, utilising both educational research and evidence-based learning practices. I am also proactive about building strong collaborative relationships with other staff in order to leverage and complement their expertise.

In addition to my Graduate Diploma in Expressive Therapies (Major: Applied Counselling) and Bachelor of Fine Arts, I hold social work and creative arts therapy-related certifications including IV Disability, IV Training and Assessing, and Colour and Design in Creative Arts Therapy.
