Dear Hiring Manager,

As a Doctorate of Applied Mathematics graduate with a strong interest in mathematical medicine in industry settings, I apply with enthusiasm for this opportunity.

I am currently a Research Coordinator at the University of Sunnybank’s Office of Mathematical Medicine and Biology, where my focus is on the mathematical modeling of lung cancer treatments and the sequencing of surgery and chemotherapy. Prior to this, I was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics, where in addition to instructional and lesson planning, I graded papers and tests, proctored labs, and held office hours.

As well as my instructional responsibilities, I assisted with the research and writing of "Chapter 2: Mathematical Modeling and Lung Cancer" in Erick Miska’s (2017) Experimentally-driven mathematical modeling to improve combination targeted and cytotoxic therapy for small cell lung cancer (Persimmon Press). 

In addition to 6 years of research and teaching experience and my recent doctorate, I hold a Master of Applied Mathematics and Physics and a Bachelor of Education (Mathematics). I have also attended numerous professional workshops and courses.

I have enjoyed my time at the University of Sunnybank, and am grateful for the excellent research and teaching opportunities offered. I am now seeking an industry role that will enable me to leverage my applied mathematics expertise to advance the commercial R&D of mathematical medicine.
