Cox Automotive, a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises, is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to join our team!

The Senior Manager of Software Engineering for our Payment Calculation Services Teams will lead our teams in delivering a set of world class APIs for powering automotive payment calculation. These APIs are a core part of our portfolio and are central to Cox Automotive mission of “Transforming the way the world buys, sells, owns and uses vehicles”.  In this role, you will partner with Product, Architecture and SRE teams to envision, enhance and evolve our Payment Calculation Service API offerings. You will ensure our APIs meet our SLOs for both uptime and performance and you will ensure our APIs can scale to meet our ever-growing customer needs.

The ideal candidate for the role is responsible for leading our engineering teams, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing a plan to develop and evolve the culture of your teams. You will need a strong software engineering background in a highly secured environment. You will possess extensive technical knowledge in the development, delivery, and implementation of APIs and API management processes (governance,  security, operation, and documentation). DevOps or SRE experience are valuable assets in this role. You will have demonstrated the ability to develop, communicate, and execute your vision resulting in the adoption of practices and tooling that will help strengthen our position as the premier leader of the automotive software marketplace.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead between 3-4 onshore, near-shore and offshore software engineering scrum teams

  • Develop a culture of quality and engineering excellence
  • Implement a Continuous Process Improvement strategy
  • Work with product management team to find fast and effective ways to implement their product roadmap
  • Ensure our teams uphold our Cox Automotive API standards
  • Delight our API customers with an outstanding Developer Experience
  • Ensure our API offerings meet our availability and performance SLOs
  • Maintain our AWS budget and optimize our costs

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area required and 8+years of experience with at least 3 year experience in a management or lead role.
  • Minimum (5) five years of experience managing large-scale digital software systems 
  • Deep understanding of APIs and API management disciplines
  • Exposure to cloud development and deployment technologies, including containerization, infrastructure as code, and multi-cloud configurations is preferred

Compensation and Other Benefits

  • Compensation includes a base salary of $140,600.00 - $234,400.00. The salary rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's experience. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

  • The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the Company’s needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness for their own wellness or that of family members.  Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, parental leave, and COVID-19 vaccination leave.
