Research Intern – Database Development

What you will be doing: You will be working with CTO Dave Simmen and other leading database engineers on a next generation project in the areas of database performance and scalability, self-driving database management systems, transactions, security, or another area relevant to Ahana's vision to bring world class data management capabilities to the cloud open data lake environment.

Responsibilities & Competencies

• Phd or Masters student with a BS in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience in distributed database internals, systems software design or general distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in core software concepts (eg. File systems, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, programming languages, etc.)
• Competency in Java 8+, C++, or equivalent system languages.
• Passion and desire to drive innovation in the open source data community.
• Willingness to succeed in a startup environment.
• Documented open source contributions are a major plus.
• Hands-on experience with Presto is a major plus.
