We are seeking a passionate Backend Software Engineer to join our Independent Hotels unit. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping the future of our projects by developing scalable APIs and backend services for trivago Business Studio, our hotelier product. You will work closely with a dedicated team of professionals including engineers, QA, product managers, data analysts, and UX designers. Ready for a new challenge? Here's one for you.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code and monitor the components or features being developed
  • Proactively contribute to the Independent Hotel's unit projects
  • Develop and maintain a varied microservice ecosystem 
  • Set up efficient and high-performing database queries in MySQL
  • Collaborate with frontend, QA, design, and concept teams 
  • Participate in reviewing technical documentation and contribute to technology, architecture, workflow, and design decisions 

What we’re looking for:

  • Educational background in a core module in IT or comparable apprenticeship 
  • 3+ years of software development experience using Java, Kotlin, NodeJS, or PHP
  • Experience in building APIs and backend services through logical reasoning
  • Strong focus on performance, accessibility, and API design 
  • A team player who enjoys collaborating with different stakeholders and sharing knowledge 
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex topics to non-technical peers and stakeholders
  • Keen interest in technical challenges and continuous development   

What makes you stand out:

  • Familiarity and expertise in Cloud services 
  • Experience working with GraphQL and Kafka 
  • Experience in CI using Github Actions
