TNTP seeks a full-time Senior Manager, Strategic Growth. This position will be based in a home office anywhere in the U.S. and is available immediately. Travel for team and organizational meetings a few times a year may be required.

Who We Are

A national nonprofit founded by teachers, TNTP believes our nation’s public schools can offer all children an excellent education. Today we’re a diverse team from a wide range of fields, united by a fierce commitment to helping school systems end educational inequality. We work at every level of the public education system to attract and train talented teachers and school leaders, ensure rigorous and engaging classrooms, and create environments that prioritize great teaching and accelerate student learning.

The Strategic Growth, Legal, and Finance division at TNTP develops and executes the fiscal and legal strategy and sustainability planning for our $140M+ non-profit organization of over 700 full-time and seasonal staff members across the country.  TNTP is a revenue-generating non-profit organization.  It utilizes a blended revenue model to sustain and advance its work.  A majority of TNTP’s annual revenue comes from contracts with the school districts, charter networks, and states to which it delivers consulting services.

What You’ll Do

As the Senior Manager for Strategic Growth, you will project manage a portfolio of cross-functional strategic initiatives to support the sustainability and scalability of TNTPs finances and operations in pursuit of its long-term impact goals.

Reporting to the Strategic Growth Partner, you will lead collaboratively on a team of four and in partnership with staff from across the organization. You will help to facilitate long-term planning, investigate drivers of business performance, build organizational systems and infrastructure, and shape new services.

Key Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Co-lead a multi-year growth planning process in support of TNTP’s emerging strategic plan: help develop and implement a project plan that includes deliberate stakeholder engagement, thoughtful use of data, and that is grounded in TNTP’s values
  • Project manage a series of strategic initiatives that strengthen TNTP’s internal systems and infrastructure (e.g., data capabilities, performance management systems, streamlined operations, etc.)
  • Support the design and launch of new services and other market-facing growth innovations
  • Lead internal communications to communicate project updates, collect stakeholder input, and drive alignment: Develop clear and compelling emails, memos, and PowerPoint presentations, and facilitate well-organized, outcomes-driven meetings.
  • In partnership with the larger division, develop the team’s knowledge management plan and oversee its implementation across SharePoint and other channels.

What You’ll Bring

First and foremost, we are looking for amazing people who have diverse backgrounds and experiences, are inspired by our mission, and are highly motivated to change children's lives through education. We value diversity of ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, sexual identity, gender, religion, language, ability, and experience and exemplify this through the makeup of our team at all levels. You will be right at home here if you cultivate strong relationships and push yourself, your work, and the people around you to the next level. We encourage those with the following identities to apply: Black, Latinx, Asian American, and Pacific Islander, Indigenous people, LGBTQIA+ and non-binary people, veterans, people living with disabilities, and others with lived experience being part of marginalized communities.

We expect our Senior Manager to possess some critical mindsets:

  • Intrapreneurial: You love to build organizations, but you also understand that large-scale change takes time.
  • Strategist: You are a naturally creative and structured problem solver who brings clarity to ambiguity. You are adept at “zooming out” to view the organization at a systems level and “zooming in” to interrogate the details.
  • Learner: It’s rare that anyone comes in with across-the-board mastery, and you should plan on intentionally growing your skills while here to fill out your toolkit. You are strong with MS Office and project management techniques (e.g., waterfall, agile) and you have a knack for directing your own learning.
  • Empathetic relationship builder: You regularly put yourself into others’ shoes to deeply understand and honor their point of view. You have an ability to build relationships with diverse communities.
  • Collaborator: You value others’ perspectives and roles in the organization, and skillfully leverage their subject matter expertise to solve our most complex challenges
  • Equity: You center equity in everything you do. You are inclusive of diverse stakeholders in your project design and authentically lift up their voices throughout your communications and engagement.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience designing and managing complex, cross-functional business projects
  • Self-reliant and adept at managing multiple projects at once, prioritizing effectively, working efficiently, and anticipating future needs in a fast-paced environment
  • Results-oriented problem-solver who can assess challenges and identify solutions in ambiguous situations
  • Highly collaborative with excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including memo writing and presentations
  • Ability to skillfully design and facilitate purpose-driven meetings that lead to staff alignment and actionable next steps
  • Required working knowledge of business concepts, which may include any combination of finance, operations, strategy, change management, or other domains
  • Strong MS Office skills are a must
