Research Extern at American Foundation for Suicide Prevention CL Sample

Dear Recruiter,

I'm happy to have the opportunity to apply for the research extern position at American Foundation for Suicide

Prevention and am eager to learn more about this opportunity. I am interested in working as a research intern

due to my experience working as a research assistant and McNair scholar. I have presented at conferences and

on panels along with a group of undergraduate and graduate researchers. I believe this externship would be a

great opportunity for me to further improve my expertise and grow both professionally and personally.

I am a community-minded citizen who wants to make positive changes in the field of clinical and forensic

psychology through research and advocacy. I believe my talents and motivation would be an asset to AFSP in

the work they do to understand and prevent suicide. The mission of the American Foundation for Suicide

Prevention is exactly the type of environment in which I hope to work.

My passion for the field of Law & Psychology inspired me to attend John Jay College of Criminal Justice. My

involvement on campus and being part of research labs and academic programs have helped me develop time

management and communication skills. I have a strong work ethic, self-motivation, and organization. As well

as a positive attitude and interpersonal skills. I am currently attending college full time however, I am also an

ambassador for Robbie’s Hope, a nonprofit organization that aims to reduce teen suicide by half by 2028. I

hope to continue contributing to organizations dedicated to bettering lives. With this opportunity, my goals are

to acquire professional development and interesting experiences while contributing to the short and long term

goals of this organization.
